Event Details

There is no better way to start your weekend than with a dose of social change! At this event you will have the opportunity to engage with six inspiring and diverse projects, all with innovative solutions. The projects will have six minutes to pitch their ideas to you and you will be able to probe them with questions. This will be followed by our unique open donation session, where we will be able to see the totals rise in real time.

After all this excitement there will be a chance to chat to the projects and other attendees, have a spot of lunch and prepare for Easter with a chocolate extravaganza courtesy of fantastic fairtrade chocolate company Plush

If you have never been to one of our events before, they are warm and friendly affairs, filled with interesting people. It is a chance for donors to actively take part in philanthropy in a supportive and positive environment. The Funding Network's tagline, creating social change through collective giving, really does sum up what we do. Crowd funding of everything from journalism to film to social enterprise is rising in popularity at the moment, but our live model of donating is still a unique experience recommended by donors and projects alike.

'TFN is one of the most stimulating, engaging and downright fun ways to give'
Mark Cheng, TFN Member and donor

'TFN just rocks - it is great to have a platform to reach individual funders'
Clare Algar, Executive Director, Reprieve

The projects presenting at this event...

Project Banner x1
FairPensions have done terrific things with the grant awarded to them by The Funding Network last year. They are returning to this event with a project that aims to empower people to challenge BP and Shell over environmentally destructive oil production from the Canadian tar sands.

FoodCycle is an innovative project that uses food and cooking for a three pronged attack tackling food waste, lack of volunteering opportunities for young people and food poverty in one highly replicable model. This project, much like COAP, who did so well in January, first presented at YTFN and have moved up!

Odanadi aims to prevent and reduce human trafficking in India through increasing the reach of their tried and tested vigilance committees, which are local community groups involved in exposing trafficking networks and educating others about the issue of human trafficking.

 Project Banner x2
Leave to Remain is combining a feature film with a campaigning and outreach programme to address the issues of young asylum seekers in the UK. They are asking for funding for their 3 week acting school for asylum seekers between the ages of 14-19, with the aim of then involving them in the making of the film.

Carbon Retirement is a completely innovative approach to carbon offsetting, which actually buys up and removes carbon credits from the emissions trading market. This forces companies to reduce their emissions rather than just buying up more credits, genius!

MANGRO is a project providing an eco-friendly base for an environmental resource centre and library in Orissa, India. This will also include a model tree nursery and training facilities. The positive effects of this programme have already been felt and they are looking for help to expand to three times as many villages.
